As a parent of a preschooler, I’d like to share some of the ways CADL’s electronic resources can open up a wealth of possibilities for children for listening, reading and viewing.
hoopla is a great resource for not just audiobooks and eBooks, but for children’s music as well. Try downloading a few titles for car rides, playtime or bedtime.
One parent I talked to recently told me that she reads an eBook from OverDrive or hoopla on her phone, while she waits for her son to drift off to sleep.

TumbleBooks offers children a variety of electronic books to read, or have read to them through an interactive and highly visual interface. A great resource for beginning readers, the books may be played with our without the audio track.
BookFlix is the perfect resource for the child who reads or listens to a picture book, and wants to learn more. For example, Edward Marshall’s wacky and fun storybook Space Case is paired with an introductory primer on planet Earth.
Don’t forget that Zinio has a large number of electronic magazine titles for children including but not limited to Babybug, Ladybug, Cricket, High Five, Highlights and American Girl.
Lastly, try browsing both the hoopla television and movies categories for a variety of titles for children that can be streamed or downloaded for a total of 72 hours per checkout.
All of these resources can be accessed from the Digital Downloads landing page on CADL’s website.
